Fantastic Fishing

The Big Hole River is nationally known as one of the premiere blue-ribbon trout waters in Montana. You are literally within walking distance of the riverbank from your campsite. However, if you want to float the river, several guide services offer a variety of packages.

Hiking & Exploring

Trails and adventures are waiting to be explored throughout the valley. You could spend months hiking, discovering mountain meadows and lakes, and delight in varied flora and fauna.

Wildlife Viewing

Depending on the season and time of day there are opportunities to see deer, elk, moose, antelope, eagles, and many more furry and winged creatures.

Bicycle - Motorcycles - ATVs

The lesser-traveled highways in and around Wisdom are perfect for the bicyclist or motorcyclist who takes pleasure in riding the wide-open spaces. There are also designated trails for the
ATV enthusiast.

Big Game Hunting

Hunting is a part of life in Montana and the Big Hole Valley has a season for elk, deer, and antelope. Ask about licensing
and other info if this is of interest to you.

Big Hole Battlefield

A memorial to the people who fought and died in the August 1877 conflict that came to be known as the Nez Perce War as Chief Joseph led his band North. The Visitor Center houses a museum filled with interesting exhibits and information. There are self-guided tours around the battlefield from sunrise to sunset.

Bannack State Park

Bannack is one of the finest preserved ghost towns in Montana. It was also the site of many firsts including the first big gold strike and the first territorial capitol and center of government. Imagine yourself in the rough and tough gold era of the old west as you wander the streets and learn from the well-informed summer staff.

Hot Springs

If a relaxing soak is your idea of heaven you’re close to it. Wisdom is within easy driving distance of three developed hot springs with soaking pools/tubs.
